The 2ND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ECONOMICS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES, Collaborative Research for Excellence in Economics and Social Sciences – ICESS 2019 will implement a blind peer-review process.

The fair and timely review process done by the reviewers is the key factor for the selection of high quality papers for presentation and publication. We greatly appreciate reviewers for their contribution to the success of the conference.

Applications to join the Scientific Committee are invited from academics, experts and specialists in the fields of Economics and Social Sciences covering the research topics of the conference.

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

When reviewing a paper considered for oral presentation and publication, reviewers must take into consideration the following ethical standards:
1. Papers will be reviewed based on their intellectual merit and contribution to the aims and scope of the conference, as well as on the criteria presented in the review process. The reviewers should adhere to standards of fairness, integrity, and objectivity. Kindly note that personal criticism is unacceptable.
2. Reviewers who feel that their review comments might be biased and/or unqualified regarding a particular submitted paper to the conference should notify the Organizing Committee immediately and excuse themselves from the review process.
3. Reviewers should be clear in their review comments and provide proper explanations and arguments for their decisions. If there is any suspicion about the originality of the paper, reviewers are expected to notify the Organizing Committee immediately, with the appropriate arguments.
4. During the review process, reviewers will keep in mind at all times that the paper and related materials are confidential.
5. Reviewers warrant that they will not use the papers and related materials submitted to the conference for any other purpose than the blind peer-review process.

Keynote speakers

We are pleased to announce the Keynote Speakers:

  • Prof. Pasquale Mammone – President, Université d’Artois (France)

Pasquale MammonePasquale Mammone defended the doctoral thesis at the University of Mons (Belgium) in 1987 and obtained the accreditation to conduct research (HDR) by the University Lille 1 in 1991. His research activities focus on the Brauer group theory, the quadratic forms and the history of mathematics. He obtained a position as senior lecture at the University of Lille 1 in 1991 and as university professor at Artois University in 1993. Since May 2016, he has been the President of Artois University. At the same time, he is member of the Board of the School of Teaching and Education and Vice-president of the “Louvre – Lens Vallée” Cluster. Before that, he held many responsibilities at Artois University: member of the Administrative Board since 1999, Director of the Faculty of Sciences in Lens from 2004 to 2012 and First Vice-president responsible for Finance from May 2012 to May 2016. He was member of the Administrative Board at the Higher Education and Research Community (COMUE) Lille-North of France until January 2016.  

  • Prof. Cristian Tiu – Chair, School of Management, University at Buffalo (USA)

Cristian TIUProfessor Cristian Tiu is the Chair of the Department of Finance and an Associate Professor of Finance at University at Buffalo. He is also the current Academic Director of the MBA program at the University at Buffalo. Mr. Tiu is interested in determinants of performance for non-standard institutional investors such as university endowment funds and hedge funds. He published in outlets such as the Review of Financial Studies, Mathematical Finance or the Journal of Investment Management and presented his work at venues such as the American Finance Association or the Western Finance Association meetings, or at practitioner events such as the Global ARC. He is an associate editor of the Asia-Pacific Journal of Financial Studies, a member of the Investment Committee of the University at Buffalo Foundation, an $800+ million university endowment, and an academic adviser to Gerstein Fisher, a New York investment company. Cristian Tiu is also an expert in endowment management, including aspects related to governance, compensation, integration with the university as well as investments, and consulted for a variety of dedicated organizations such as UTIMCO, Perella Weinberg or TIAA. Professor Cristian Tiu is a member of the American Finance Association, the Western Finance Association, the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges and a TIAA Institute Fellow.  

  • Prof. Peter Nijkamp – Emeritus Professor, Free University Amsterdam (the Netherlands), DHC of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies

Peter NijkampPeter Nijkamp is professor in regional and urban economics and in economic geography at the VU University, Amsterdam. His main research interests cover quantitative plan evaluation, regional and urban modelling, multicriteria analysis, transport systems analysis, mathematical systems modelling, technological innovation, entrepreneurship, environmental and resource management and sustainable development. In the past years he has focussed his research in particular on new quantitative methods for policy analysis, as well as on spatial-behavioural analysis of economic agents. He has a broad expertise in the area of public policy, services planning, infrastructure management and environmental protection. In all these fields he has published many books and numerous articles. He is member of editorial/advisory boards of more than 30 journals. He has been visiting professor in many universities all over the world. According to the RePec list he belongs to the top-30 of well-known economists worldwide. He is past president of the European Regional Science Association and of the Regional Science Association International. He is also fellow of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Sciences, and past vice-president of this organization. From 2002–2009 he has served as president of the governing board of the Netherlands Research Council (NWO). In addition, he is past president of the European Heads of Research Councils (EUROHORCs). He is also fellow of the Academia Europaea, and member of many international scientific organizations. He has acted regularly as advisor to (inter)national bodies and (local and national) governments. In 1996, he was awarded the most prestigious scientific prize in the Netherlands, the Spinoza award.

  • Dr. Lorna Treanor - Assistant Professor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation - Nottingham University Business School (United Kingdom)

Lorna TreanorDr Lorna Treanor is an Assistant Professor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Haydn Green Institute, Nottingham University Business School. Lorna is an invited Fellow of the Royal Society and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Lorna is a co-founder of the Gender and Enterprise Network (GENSIG), the ISBE Special Interest Group established in 2010 to promote scholarly research into the gendering of entrepreneurship. Until quite recently, Lorna was a Trustee of the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship where she held Deputy VP for Education and Deputy VP for Policy roles on the ISBE board. Lorna is interested in problem-based learning and the research-teaching nexus. Her entrepreneurship education publications to date have focused on STEM disciplines such as veterinary medicine.

  • Prof. Christopher Abraham - CEO & Head - Dubai campus and Sr. Vice President (Institutional Development) at the S P Jain School of Global Management (United Arab Emirates)

Chrisopher AbrahamProf. Christopher Abraham is a permanent resident of Canada with three Post Graduate qualifications in HRM, Business Administration (Marketing), and Labor & Administrative Law and is a PhD scholar in Positive Psychology. He is a Certified Design Thinker from IDEO/Stanford and has thirty two years’ experience in management consulting, marketing, and management education in India, Canada, Singapore and the UAE. Currently he is the CEO & Head - Dubai campus and Sr. Vice President (Institutional Development) at the S P Jain School of Global Management, a Forbes Top 10, Economist & FT Top 100 ranked Business School, with campuses in Dubai, Singapore, Mumbai and Sydney. Prof. Abraham has been a visiting Professor at many leading universities in Australia, USA, Canada, Singapore and UK. Earlier in Dubai, he headed the Executive MBA Program of XLRI, Jamshedpur, one of Asia’s Top Business Schools. His areas of competence are Strategy, Technology & the Future of Education, Innovation, Neuroscience of Decision Making, Positive Organizational Behavior, Science of Happiness and Design Thinking. A much sought after TEDx and keynote speaker, he has successfully presented in numerous global forums and has also conducted many consulting and executive development assignments for global organizations, including The World Bank, The Executive Council (Gov’t. of Dubai), Emirates Airlines, DHL, AW Rostamani, P&G etc.

  • Anatoly Karpov – Chess Grandmaster (Russian Federation)

Anatoly KarpovOne of the greatest champions in chess history, Anatoly Karpov was world champion between 1975-1985 and 1993-1999. He holds the record of winning tournaments - over 120, and for a 102-month period he was ranked first in the world by the ELO ranking. Anatoly Karpov's "boa constrictor" playing style is solidly positional, taking no risks but reacting mercilessly to any tiny errors made by his opponents. Licentiate of the Faculty of Economics at St. Petersburg State University (Leningrad). Honorary Professor and Honorary Doctor of several Russian universities. He is deputy in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs. Anatoly Karpov has been involved in a number of humanitarian, social and environmental protection projects in several countries. An important direction of promoting the sport of mind is school chess, and in many countries were established Chess Schools "Anatoly Karpov" to support young talents.

The Academy of Business & Retail Management is proud to have an established record to organising and managing international academic conferences. the 8th ABRM ROGE-2018 conference will be taking place at Said Business School, University of Oxford, UK during 9-10th July. This Conference seeks to elucidate a wealth of issues in all aspects of business management, management education, teaching and learning methodologies and many more.
