Sławomir Smyczek is full-professor at the University of Economics in Katowice with over 25 years’ experience, with teaching Consumer Behavior, Marketing and vice-rector for Education and International Cooperation. He also serves as the Head of the Department of Consumer Studies. He is a national representative in the Asian Marketing Association MAGScholar and in the European Universities Network DUKENET, of which he was the president in 2017-2019. Since 2022, he has been the Chairman of the Silesian Universities Network (SUN). He is an external reviewer on quality assurance for higher education at foreign quality assurance agencies and reviewer at different international journals. He was the leader or institutional coordinator of several Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership Programs as well Erasmus Mundus Design Measures Program. He is also visiting profess at foreign universities, including Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (Austria), Université de Haute-Alsace (France), Budapest Business School (Hungary), Howest Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen (Belgium) and Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera in Valencia (Spain). He is an expert in the field of consumer rights protection. In 2023, he was appointed to the Advisory Scientific Committee at the Financial Ombudsman. He conducts scientific research in the field of consumer behavior, sustainable consumption, and consumer market exclusion. He cooperates with business as a consultant. He is also the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Tauron Polska Energia S.A.
